For those that need some directions from the Comfort Inn to the start line (Four Points Sheraton Hyannis Resort) you can get them here:

Hyannis Race Logistics ( not encompassing but a start)

A few details-

List of extra things to bring-Warm  running attire
Cold running attire
Post running attire
Post showering attire
Out in public attire

Extra car keys
Bail money
Morning of-
Those driving in Sunday Morning-Recommended to leave Marlboro for Hyannis no later than 630am, not accounting for weather. That gives you about 2 hrs, 830 arrival to Hyannis, not the hotel.

Once in Hyannis, avoid downtown if possible, go to Conference Center the back way via Pitcher’s Way, off of Route 132 from Rt6, exit 6…for reference if you use any internet map, like Google Maps, just get directions from Comfort Inn Rt 132 Hyannis to Conference Center 35 Scudder Way Hyannis that should give a good visual. Pitcher's Way is one of two side roads that bears right off of Rt 132.

Parking  - Once at the destination, either the Melody Tent or hotel, you will need to park, more than likely at the Melody Tent. Around 830, it will be a mad house, 9am arrival near insane, hence reason why 630 departure from Marlboro is suggested. But if you get to Hyannis early enough, you might luck out with parking at the conference center itself, where I would call the east end of the parking lot nearest edge to the rotary and package store, also happens to be the furthest corner away from the race start.

Bib Pick Up/Forum- for those of you picking up for others on Saturday, keep it straight as to whose bag is whose, not sure if name will be on bag itself sometimes it is, sometimes just their bib#. Bring a Sharpie or some other bold writing device to determine easily.

Sunday pick up, yes it can be done, the pick up is in the west wing of the center, near the pool, fitness center for those familiar with the center.

If so inclined the Race Forum has great bargains to be had- shoes, clothes and gadgets. Credit pays, cash talks.

Central Meeting- I will circulate the room number, I think we will use a party line, I will text or call two people and they will call and text two people and so on, but if you wish me to text the room to you directly, text me at 6177192421, and please state your name, as much as I love guess this phone number I suck at it. Hell I have problems with just names.

Gear Storage, and the like- yes you can store your gear in the room, and you can change and use the facilities pre and post. I will arrange for extra towels, extra room keys and all that stuff. I am told I am foolish to be such a trusting fool, but the decision of valuables, your rationale, not my problem. If everyone uses a brown paper bag to tote your stuff then there will be confusion. Every year someone ends up missing an article of their favorite clothing, yes even before the race – what happens in Hyannis is only known if posted in the results…

With all this said – you need to also get ready to run. For those toeing the line for the 10am I am talking to you!! All you running the relay legs 2, 3,4 we will talk later.

Race details-

10 am start, plan for the weather to be unpredictable.
For those of you finishing your relay leg at Craigsville Beach, be prepared to have a change of clothes ready to go in the stage vehicle. Not just a dry shirt, a coat, gloves hat. It is the Cape, it is the winter, and yes it will be cold.

ALSO post run water, snack what ever you prefer !!

To anybody that has run the relay before:

The people running the 2nd, 3rd and 4th legs will need to be out on the course awaiting the prior runner.

A) How do they get there?  Do they shuttle you out or are you on your own for that?
B) How do the 1st, 2nd and 3rd leg runners get back to start/finish?
C) While waiting is there any shelter?  If it's cold and rainy that could really suck.

Hey All!!

I am now officially in for Sunday night.

Now the reality of Sunday check in since at the Conf. Ctr aka the event headqtrs/hotel, runners who have Saturday reservations, have the option of late check out @ 3pm.

Which some of you will recall from last year, most of us did not get rooms at or near this time. Though not unexpected, was an issue.

This after we even took our time for the awards and then extra pizza. I seem to think it was not until 330 or 4 in some cases before everyone finally had a room.

I know of two options/suggestions, technically 3- I am sure others---but I will go through these 3-

1.) The spa/fitness area - you can get a day pass in order to stretch, hot tub, shower, etc... I forget the charge...$10 maybe even $20 -I know pricey but cheaper than staying on Saturday Night. It does get busy.

2.) Get a room on Saturday

3.) Not worry about it, see how things go.

I am hedging towards option 2, get a room Saturday in addition to Sunday- I intend to make it available for the group. So we can have a central place to meet, stash gear, change,  AND a restroom away from the lines.

So if anyone else wants to go down to Hyannis late on Saturday depart locally after 6, for a late check in in order share expense and skip the morning drive. In turn make it available for the group Sunday morning, get back to me. If no one else wishes to go down on Saturday, that’s ok, I am still of the mind to get the room on Saturday anyway.

Thoughts - suggestions?

Ken

From Craigville Beach to Rt 28, all the way to Strawberry Hill Rd, running will be on the right hand side of the road.

There's a police detail at intersection of Main and South Main, a water stop at Phinneys Lane, then the right on to Rt28, then right onto Strawberry Hill Rd.

A more ideal spot for someone to stage up will be at head of Strawberry Hill Rd. There's a small busness on the left with a good sized parking lot, if banned there's other parking options in the general area. But the road is wide, good line of sight.

Here's the map...

Kenny, weren't you thinking of tryng to get someone (non-runner) affiliated w/ the club to assist up on West Main Street (top of the hill)? I agree that it is an ideal place to be; however, aren't we running on the wrong side of the street there?

Oh, and BTW - stop making fun of the multiple dates of our Annual Meeting; trying to get a bunch of obsessive, very busy runners to meet for two hours is like trying to get a prostitute convention at St. Paul's Cathedral.

In light of latest reschedule date of club meeting (which you date you ask?  Cheesy) , I suggest we use the forum to get ahead of the easy stuff... Roll Eyes

Many have already commented back to me on their Hyannis plans by email. I have compiled a few lists from those details...which I will post at a later time...

So if anyone has any specific questions this forum is the way to go!!

Oh, I will post some course maps (or where they can be found ) at some point, but if someone beats me to the punch fine by me... Grin

Thanks Larry Ellen!!
