HCS Race Series Info
We are excited to announce the 2023 HCS Race Series.
Building on the momentum that we had from last year and listening to our members, we are going to make a few adjustments!
There are even more opportunities to earn points this year! You can earn points for hosting SAD runs (through the spring and summer, next season will go toward 2024 points). You’ll also earn points if you can bring in a sponsor for Running with the Wolves!
We are continuing our Wildcard races, but adjusting the number of points. We loved seeing Striders out there racing together, at lots of races. You can earn Wildcard points for up to 6 races each, worth 3 points each! What is a Wildcard race? Get 10 Striders to run a race together anytime from January 1, 2022 through Thanksgiving. All the Striders at that race will receive Wildcard credit! (Just let Mike Lepore know about the race and the participants to get your points). We already have a few Wildcard races on the books!
For the rest of our races, our usual point values are still in play: 5 points to run a race and 10 points to volunteer at an HCS race. We are bringing back our major fundraiser, Running with the Wolves, and adding the Hudson Youth Substance Abuse Prevention (YSAP) race. We will also have our two Tough 10 Milers and the Jeremy Eschelbacher Memorial Run.
Additionally, we have 6 community races that you can race (30 possible points) and the HCS Volunteer Races (Up to 40 possible points if you volunteer at all of them). Adding the wildcard races (18 possible points) and SAD and fundraising points (10 points each) makes 108 possible points!
Race series winner jackets will be awarded to the top Male and Female point totals. Anyone who earns 50 or more points will get Race Series Swag this year.
We can’t wait to see everyone out there racing!
HCS Race Directors Needed!
Have you seen the great black HCS race director jackets that a few of our members have, and thought “How do I get one of those?”. Well – it’s a pretty exclusive crew. Only those folks who have directed an HCS race have those jackets. We have opportunities to earn them this year. We need a race director for Running with the Wolves and can always use new directors for the Laborious Labor Day 10 Mile race and the Tough 10 Turkey Trot race.If interested, please reach out to Peter Bakkala.
