The Highland City Striders put on a series of community races that are designed to support the local community and charity organizations.
Wolves
Our premier race every year is Running with the Wolves 10k and the White Fang 5k. Each year we raise money to support local charity organizations.
Thomas Clardy 5k
Each year HCS helps coordinate our largest race of the year – the Trooper Thomas Clardy 5k. This draws close to 1000 runners to support the charity for fallen Massachusetts State Trooper Thomas Clardy
The 10 Milers
We also have two infamous “Tough 10” races. The 10 miler races are held the same course, held on Labor Day and the Sunday after Thanksgiving. These two races are renowned for their low-key nature – entry fee is just 20 canned goods that are donated to local food pantries, and their “tough” course. You’ll be running along at PR pace until you get to the hill that is all of mile 8.
The Mammoth
Late each year, we put on a low-key, but tough trail half marathon and 5k that goes through local trails in Westboro, Northboro and Marlborough in honor of Al.

Eschelbacher 5k
Each year we help Grafton High School put on a 5k race in the name of one of our former members – Jeremy Eschelbacher – who tragically passed away in 2016. Jeremy was a great runner, father and physics teacher at Grafton and proceeds of this race go to fund scholarships to Grafton HS students. In 2019 we moved this race closer to Jeremy’s home in Berlin and took it to the trails of Gates Pond.
