Races Overview

The Highland City Striders put on a series of community races that are designed to support the local community and charity organizations.

Running with the Wolves 5k/10k

Our premier race every year is Running with the Wolves 5k/10k. Each year we raise money to support local charity organizations.

The 10 Miler

We also have our infamous “Tough 10” race. This 10 miler race is held the Sunday after Thanksgiving. This race is renowned for its low-key nature – entry fee is just 15 canned goods that are donated to local food pantries, and their “tough” course. You’ll be running along at PR pace until you get to the hill that is all of mile 8.

The 5 Miler

On the same day and at the same time (Sunday after Thanksgiving) as the infamous “Tough 10” race, the 5 mile race is a shorter versions of their 10 mile sibling but the hills are not as challenging. As with the 10 miler, this two races is renowned for their low-key nature – entry fee is just 15 canned goods that are donated to local food pantries.

Race for the Refuge

New for 2025! Race for the Refuge is a new loop course trail race. Proceeds from the race will benefit the Friends of Woodlands and Waters as well as the Jeremy Eschelbacher Memorial Scholarship Fund. For 2025 this race will be offered in 1 loop (10k) and 30k versions, along with 3 and 6 hour timed registrations.

The Eschelbacher Memorial Scholarship Fund was a fund established for our friend – Jeremy Eschelbacher – who tragically passed away in 2016. Jeremy was a great runner, father and physics teacher at Grafton High School and donations of this run/walk go to fund scholarships to Grafton High School students.
