The Joy of Running

Written By Sam Streisand

When you get time to go for a run, what is the best part? Is it a PR, running with people, completing a distance, or just doing it? It could be all of the above. Overall, it’s the joy of running!

When I think of the joy of running, a quote comes to mind:” Run often, run long, but never outrun the joy of running,” said Olympic runner Julia Isphording. This quote makes me want to remember that it’s not about getting a goal or completing one; it’s about the journey. I always find time in my busy schedule to run and let my mind relax. It’s great to be a Strider and to run with so many wonderful people who love running as much as I do.

One thing that runners talk about is the joy of running, which gets them high. It’s getting in that state of euphoria and feeling on top of the world. I feel like running is free therapy because you can let your mind expand and let all those stressful feelings float away, which gives me the joy of running.

Lastly, there will be times when you think you had a tough or bad run. Still, we are all lucky to run together in this club because there is always someone to push you or comfort you, and even if the weather is super crappy and you’re going out for a run, you’re probably not going to go out alone. Just remember, it’s not about that, it’s about being able to run every day and get that fantastic feeling, and that’s the true joy of running!
